There is a great misunderstanding surrounding the book of discipline and the controversy of homosexuality. This author finds it interesting that some people what to ignore and/or distort the scripture. They say “why do people hate?” This comes from a gross misunderstanding of the scripture and those who care about scripture (traditionalist). Comments such this are used when a person doesn’t have a good argument in defense of their position. Or, when they are not able to defend scriptural guidance. The reality is that those who choose scriptural truth love everyone, but we believe that all sinners should be told the truth. That is the only course to redemption. This is true love.
Since the “gate is small and the path narrow” it is important that we seek truth in this and all matters relating to God.
With that said, this author will provide three book references in an attempt to better educate those who are interested. This is a complicated issue and it is helpful to listen to those with a deep understanding of the scripture and other factors surrounding this issue. Most biblical discourse defines marriage as a union between a man and woman, the passages that intend to distort that understanding require a form of liberal logic that does not withstand the tests of sound biblical hermeneutics. Passages in the bible are never written in isolation, rather the messages of Old Testament prophets were cited by Jesus Christ, the Apostles, and Paul as a continuation to the linear logic and morality established within the bible. God of the Old Testament was personified in the person of Jesus Christ, showing the moral and ethics desired of humans and the Old Testament laws.
